A personal-domain comparison

Is Freemail Better Than Namecheap Private Email for Your Domain?

Freemail can be better if you want a $0 domain inbox and accept a Resend key, two addresses and a browser-local archive. Namecheap Private Email can be better if you want a low-cost provider-hosted mailbox without managing a separate delivery account. Compare its renewal price, not just the trial banner.

A free plan versus a trial followed by annual renewal

Promotions are useful only when the ongoing bill also fits. Namecheap’s published Launch renewal is annual. Freemail Free has no Freemail subscription, but its archive depends on the receiving browser. If you need cloud mail, compare the paid Freemail price too rather than treating Free as identical hosted storage.

Choose Freemail when

A small, separate inbox fits

  • You want to start with a $0 mail plan rather than a trial that converts to paid service.
  • You are comfortable managing delivery credentials and backing up browser mail.

Choose Namecheap Private Email when

Its workflow matters more

  • You prefer a provider-hosted archive at the listed annual renewal cost.
  • You want mailbox service and calendar features from a single mail provider.

Before switching from Namecheap Private Email

Domain registration and Private Email are separate services. You do not need to transfer the domain registration to change MX records. Check the mail subscription’s renewal date, save your messages and set up required addresses before replacing mail DNS.

Changing MX records changes incoming delivery for the domain. Create the addresses you need and save old mail first. Replace the previous provider’s mail-routing records as instructed; do not mix unrelated MX sets. Test sending and receiving after DNS propagation, then decide when to close the old service. Existing mail does not move automatically. Read the routing and migration notes.

Questions about Namecheap Private Email and Freemail

Do I have to transfer my Namecheap domain to use Freemail?

No. Keep your registrar and edit the mail DNS where your domain’s authoritative DNS is hosted. Freemail does not require a domain-registration transfer.

Is the advertised trial price the renewal price?

No. The comparison uses the published Launch annual renewal figure. Check the selected plan, taxes and terms at checkout rather than projecting a trial banner into future years.
